The fediverse, short for “federated universe,” is a unified social network made up of services like Threads, Mastodon and Flipboard that let you follow people and interact with them, regardless of the platform they use. 

You can think of the fediverse as similar to email, where there are many different servers that host and exchange messages with each other and it doesn’t matter which email client (or service) you use.
