Once you have a Mastodon account, you can connect it to your Flipboard to flip through and interact with your Mastodon timelines in beautiful Flipboard fashion. 

You can reply, favorite, boost, and post directly to Mastodon. You can also flip interesting posts you discover on Mastodon into your Magazines for other Flipboarders to enjoy. And you can even flip stories you see anywhere on Flipboard to Mastodon so that others in the Fediverse can discover them too. 

The combination of flipboard.social and our beta Mastodon integration helps make the brave new world of the Fediverse more approachable and beautiful. Ultimately, Flipboard is tearing down the walls of our own walled garden to give users, curators, and content creators more choices, more freedom, more transparency, and more ownership.

Android App

To connect Flipboard Android app to Mastodon:

  1. Register for a Mastodon account at flipboard.social (or on another instance).
  2. In the Android app, choose the Profile tab at the bottom.
  3. Select Connected Accounts.
  4. Choose Mastodon under Add An Account.
  5. Choose Yep! if you already have a Mastodon account.
  6. Enter the name of your instance (flipboard.social or another server).
  7. Sign into your account.
  8. Authorize Flipboard to access your Mastodon account.

To access Mastodon in Flipboard once you’ve connected your account:

  1. In the Android app, choose the Profile tab at the bottom.
  2. Select Connected Accounts and choose Mastodon.

iOS App

To connect Flipboard iOS app to Mastodon:

  1. Register for a Mastodon account at flipboard.social (or on another instance).
  2. In the iOS app, choose the Following tab at the bottom (four squares icon).
  3. Switch to the Accounts tab at the top.
  4. Choose Mastodon under Add An Account.
  5. Choose Yep! if you already have a Mastodon account.
  6. Enter the name of your instance (flipboard.social or another server).
  7. Sign into your account.
  8. Authorize Flipboard to access your Mastodon account.

To access Mastodon in Flipboard once you’ve connected your account:

  1. In the iOS app, choose the Following tab at the bottom (four squares icon).
  2. Switch to the Accounts tab at the top and choose Mastodon.
