What is a verified 'Red Check' on Flipboard?
A verified badge is a red check that appears on a Flipboard account profile. It means Flipboard has confirmed that an account is the authentic presence of the publisher, public figure, celebrity, or brand it represents.
An account may be verified if it is determined to be an account of public interest. Typically this includes accounts maintained by those in media, journalism, music, entertainment, government, politics, sports, business, and other key interest areas.
A verified badge does not necessarily imply an endorsement by Flipboard, but it signals that Flipboard considers the source high quality.
Verification Badge Guidelines
The Flipboard Verification Program aims to give users the ability to discern the validity and trustworthiness of a profile before they follow or engage with the person, publisher, creator, or brand. We look at a number of factors when evaluating Flipboard profiles to determine if they meet our verification criteria and if verification of a profile would improve the user experience.
- Authentic: Flipboard profiles must represent a real person, registered business, publisher, creator, or entity.
- Unique: Flipboard profiles must be the unique presence of the person, publisher, creator, or business it represents.
- Complete: Profiles must have a description/bio, profile photo, and at least one Magazine set up with at least 25 items in it.
- Quality: Content curation on the platform should provide our users with a unique point of view, unobtrusive ad experience, and perspective on the area of expertise.
Curators who provide false or misleading information during the verification process or violate our community guidelines will have their verified badge removed. We may take additional action to suspend the account.
